One of the important issues in the online learning model is related to the issue of engagement. Many parties find it very difficult to build engagement between educators and students in the learning process. Nevertheless, quite a lot of efforts and initiatives have been developed by education practitioners in introducing various techniques to build engagement in online learning environments. This study attempts to offer a model for measuring whether the efforts of these educators are bearing fruit or not. The model built in this study uses a gap analysis technique, which is to compare the various efforts of educators in building engagement and the opinions of students who experience the learning process firsthand. Through a number of comparison metrics it can be concluded whether the efforts in question have paid off or not. It is hoped that this model can help various parties who want to measure the effectiveness of various learning approaches from the engagement aspect.
